The Ethiopian Standard: Essays on Institutions, Citizenship, and Nation Building

My project is a writing initiative where I will publish a series of essays exploring governance, institutions, civic responsibility, and everyday challenges citizens face in accessing public services.

Through a blog platform, the essays will examine issues such as corruption, institutional accountability, leadership culture, and citizen engagement, while encouraging thoughtful dialogue about how Ethiopia can build stronger and more reliable public systems.

I chose this topic because many societal frustrations such as corruption, weak accountability, and inefficient public services are rooted not only in policies but also in institutional culture and the mindset of the people. I believe meaningful change begins when citizens and professionals reflect critically on how systems work and what role they can play in improving them. This project supports my personal journey as I explore my voice as a thinker and future leader.
