Voices of Care: Empowering Families, Shaping Inclusive Futures
In Kenya, over 2 million children live with disabilities yet many remain invisible in our schools, communities and systems. Behind each of these children is a parent or caregiver navigating daily challenges of stigma, financial strain and limited access to essential services, often with little to no support.
This initiative seeks to bring caregiver voices to the forefront transforming lived experiences into powerful stories that shift public attitudes, build community support and influence policy action. It is driven by the belief that when we support caregivers, we unlock the potential of children with disabilities and move closer to a truly inclusive society.
Specifically, the project aims to: (1) Increase knowledge on disability rights, strategies of caring for the children and available services; (2) Document and share real challenges faced by families; (3) Promote understanding, reduce stigma and encourage community support; and (4) Advocate for inclusive education, healthcare and social protection.
